The Lunch Box Diet Review

The Lunch Box Diet was developed by an English fitness consultant by the name of Simon Levell. It is a rather new diet that is founded on the premise of filling a lunch box with healthy, satisfying snacks. The concept behind this diet plan is that whenever you are hungry, you simply reach for something that is already in the lunch box, rather than grabbing a fatty, sugary, calorie-loaded snack. By ‘grazing’ throughout the day on healthy snacks, the metabolism is kept going since it must constantly work to break down the frequent amount of healthy foods being consumed.

Simon Levell initially developed this plan to help people get healthier, improve their skin complexion, strengthen and shine the hair, thicken the nails, and improve overall physical appearance. In addition to these improvements, this diet plan can also help to shrink the stomach, and therefore decrease appetite which helps dieters lose weight.

Nutrition

The lunch box used on this diet plan is not just randomly filled with any snack or food. It should be filled with proper proportions of certain food groups to ensure proper nutrition and optimal health. The lunch box should essentially be filled with foods in the proper ratio: 60% vegetables, 30% lean protein, and 10% low fat dressings and seasonings. A small amount of fruit should also be sprinkled in the lunch box.

Some of the foods recommended on the Lunch Box Diet include broccoli, peas, chili peppers, chicken, turkey, nuts, seeds and legumes. These foods are low in fat, and provide optimal nutrition while losing weight. Snacking on these healthy foods every hour or two can help keep the metabolism going, and therefore help to break down calories faster, resulting in weight loss.

Pros

This diet is very easy to follow and maintain. One of the great things about this plan is that there really aren’t any major restrictions, and dieters can basically choose what they would like to put in their lunch box, as long as the foods are not high in sugar and fat. There are no specific meals that must be eaten at a certain time on a certain day, so dieters can really customize their meals according to their tastes.

Another great advantage to this diet is that dieters with busy schedules who are always on the go don’t have to take too much time out to prepare any special meals. The lunch box is with them at all times, making it really convenient to just grab a snack whenever they are hungry. This is a major advantage over many other diets, which require proper preparation of foods that can be rather time-consuming.

Cons

One of the disadvantages to this diet is that it doesn’t really include or encourage the consumption of whole grains, which is important for energy and digestion. In addition, portions and calories aren’t elaborated on either, which may be a problem for some dieters who are completely unaware of what types of portions and calories to consume.

The Bottom Line

This is a great diet to try if you love snacking and grazing frequently throughout the day. It’s also great for those who are not keen on strict meal plans and foods to avoid. All in all, anyone can lose weight on this diet if they maintain portion control and calorie consumption.
